DESY MMC v1.00 (Legacy)

MicroTCA.4 legacy DMMC Kit AMC and μRTM

Legacy DMMC AMC & µRTM Picture

The DESY MMC (MicroTCA Management Controller) is a crucial component in MicroTCA (Micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture) systems, designed to manage and monitor various modules within the system. The MMC is built around an ATxmega128 microcontroller, which handles field-replaceable unit (FRU) information storage in its EEPROM. A CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) manages JTAG and SPI switching, ensuring efficient communication between components. The system includes four temperature sensors for thermal monitoring, a UART over USB interface for debugging, and a RTM (Rear Transition Module) Hot-Plug controller with current measurement capabilities. Power management is handled by a PMBus-controlled DC/DC converter, while a socket for an FPGA module provides Gigabit Ethernet and PCIe connectivity. Redundant SPI PROMs (256 Mbit each) ensure data reliability, and a Zone3 connector facilitates system integration. A unique ID chip and a front panel with LEDs enhance monitoring and identification. The μRTM (microRTM) offers basic functionality with EEPROM, temperature sensors, a unique ID chip, a GPIO expander for hot-swap and LED control, and a Zone3 connector. Optional advanced features include an ATxmega128 microcontroller, UART over USB, PMBus-controlled DC/DC converters, and an FPGA module socket with Gigabit Ethernet and platform flash. The DESY MMC is versatile, managing MicroTCA, standard AMC, and μRTM modules, making it essential for high-performance computing and telecommunications applications.
