MicroTCA.4 AMC Template
Description
The MicroTCA.4 Template is a community-supported starting point that helps developers quickly begin working with MicroTCA systems in the same way they would with any other development board. It provides a fully MicroTCA-compliant “empty” board that is already functional and built with the correct mechanical form factor. In this setup, the AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) and RTM (Rear Transition Module) only receive power, while all system management is handled by the DMMC-STAMP module. The main purpose of the template is to facilitate development and design migration, for example from VME-based systems. To support this process, complete design files are made available in Altium Designer, including both schematics and PCB layouts. The template integrates essential components such as an MMC system-on-module (SoM), LEDs, connectors, and temperature sensors. Additionally, it provides a USB interface for system management and status monitoring. The MicroTCA.4 Template serves as a practical reference platform that simplifies prototyping, accelerates migration to MicroTCA systems, and lowers the entry barrier for developers.
Files
We recommend the Yamaichi CN084 connector. However, this connector has been discontinued by Yamaichi. A replacement model is said to be planned, but this is neither confirmed nor guaranteed, and no further details are available at this time. We will update this template as soon as more information becomes available.
